DESCRIPTION:Convocation is the official welcome for all new freshman and transfer students as well as new faculty and parents. In many ways this ceremony marks the beginning of your collegiate journey and ushers you into the community of scholars. Some elements of convocation resemble commencement (graduation) which marks the culmination of your education at Washington State University.  Students will receive their entering year pin at convocation. \nIn academia\, the word “convocation” refers to a ceremonial assembly of the members of a college or university. Traditionally\, academic convocations celebrate special events such as the beginning of the academic year or the anniversary of an institution. \nThis website will provide important event details for faculty\, staff\, and students.
